One of Sentera’s most recent developments is the ECMF8 series of EC fan speed controllers. They can control one or two EC motors or VFDs, which is why we call them “dual”. The series is a versatile solution consisting of 3 product versions, each featuring different control options.

New ECMF8 Series of Customizable EC Fan Speed Controllers
The increasing importance of HVAC systems when it comes to heating or cooling big offices, industrial, public or residential buildings has ushered in a demand for increasingly intricate and refined control solutions. The imperative of swift and efficient air movement, seamlessly facilitating both cooling and heating processes within a single, comprehensive HVAC framework, stands as a linchpin in the quest for optimal indoor climate management. Good old AC motors were widely used to maintain air driving force, however, due to their disadvantage of running only on full power, they are not the better choice nowadays. The transition from AC motors to the advanced EC motors represents a logical and prudent choice, replete with multifaceted benefits, including noise reduction, precise environmental control, cost efficiency, and elevated system performance.

One of Sentera’s most recent developments is the ECMF8 series of EC fan speed controllers. They can control one or two EC motors or VFDs, which is why we call them “dual”. The series is a versatile solution comprised of 3 product versions, each featuring different control options:
ECMF8-AO –DM – basic version, Modbus RTU controlled
ECMF8-AO –WF – version with a built-in Wi-Fi gateway
ECMF8-AO –EW – version with built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet connection

Why ECMF8?
All versions of the ECMF8 series can control multiple EC fans and/or VFDs using their two analogue outputs. Additionally, they incorporate tacho inputs, a feature that contributes to finer motor control, ensuring optimal performance by receiving feedback from the connected motors.
What is more, these controllers come equipped with an integrated 24 VDC power supply. This enables the seamless connection of external sensors or potentiometers without the need for a specialized supply module, streamlining the setup process and enhancing flexibility, and, last but not least, saving money.
As a standard feature, all versions in this product line incorporate Modbus RTU support. This facilitates simplified control and monitoring, making it easier for operators to manage and oversee the system's operation effectively.
Furthermore, the two versions that include the Sentera Internet Gateway, i.e. ECMF8-AO –WF and ECMF8-AO –EW, feature an extra dimension of control and accessibility. These controllers empower users to manage their HVAC system remotely, providing the capability to control and monitor the system online from any part of the world. This virtual control functionality adds up to the convenience and efficiency, particularly in scenarios where real-time adjustments and oversight are essential for optimal performance and energy management.
Sentera's HVAC cloud platformSenteraWeb - provides a number of application-specific options by leveraging the flexibility of different firmware packages. These firmware packages can be downloaded to suit various HVAC needs. The versatility of this platform spans a range of applications, offering solutions that address specific requirements, such as destratification, air curtain control, heat recovery unit management, and demand-based ventilation. Just navigate to the Solutions tab on our website, where you can select the specific application and proceed to download the corresponding application-specific firmware.
Also, adjustments can be made through the Modbus Holding registers. This feature ensures that the system can be fine-tuned to meet specific preferences or evolving operational needs.
Once the ECMF8 controller has been programmed to meet the desired specifications, it can function independently as a standalone unit or remain seamlessly connected to SenteraWeb. This flexibility in connectivity options allows users to choose the most suitable mode of operation, be it autonomous control or integration with the cloud-based platform for remote monitoring and management.
