How to control electric heating elements? Electric heating elements convert electricity into heat that can be used to warm up an area, a room or a building. In some cases the heating element is visible - glowing red-hot behind a protective grille. In other devices it's hidden inside, protected by casings of metal and plastic. No matter how big the heater is, no matter whether it's radiant heat, oil-filled, or fan-forced, it is using a heating element that converts electricity into heat.
