How Do USX Controllers Provide Manual Fan Speed Control and What Are Their Capacity Limits?
The minimum motor speed is adjustable via an internal trimmer within the range 20 – 70 % of the supply voltage (Us).
There is no need to overdimension this controller. This means that of your fan has a maximum current of 3 A, a controller of the same rating will be enough to control it. It can control several motors with a total maximum current equal to its rated current. On a continuous basis!
How Does TRIAC Technology Optimize Fan Speed and Minimize Noise?
The USX features an internal trimmer for adjusting the minimum output voltage. This controller uses TRIAC technology (phase angle control) to adjust the motor voltage and to control the fan speed. TRIAC cuts parts of the incoming voltage to reduce the overall motor voltage. Thanks to this technology, the fan speed controller operates without excessive humming and buzzing. However, depending on the motor type, the motor might produce a little more noise at lower speeds (due to the imperfect sinusoidal shape of the motor voltage). The minimum motor voltage can be adjusted to avoid motor stalling at low speed and optimize fan speed for your ventilation system.
Reduced fan speed uses significantly less power than maximum operation and can often be employed, typically during unoccupied or low occupancy.
What Is TRIAC Technology and How Does It Function?
The series uses TRIAC technique. TRIAC (contraction of triode for alternating current) is a three terminal electronic component that conducts current in either direction when triggered. In general, a TRIAC device is a semiconductor that can be used for AC systems as a switch. The technique used here is called phase-angle control and employs the ability of the power semiconductor to switch on current when its gate is energised and to automatically switch off again when the current flowing through it falls to zero.

What Are the Electrical Specifications and Target Region for This Controller?
This variable fan speed controller is intended for use where mains electricity is 120 Volts. American electrical systems, unlike European, run on 120 Volt power supply. The wiring, the gauge and installation of the USX series are consistent with American performance requirements of the materials and accessories used in the fabrication of electronic components, devices, and equipment.
Where Is This Fan Speed Controller Manufactured and What Materials Are Used?
This fan speed controller is made in Europe using the most reliable and modern electronic components. Its enclosure is produced by our sister company known for its high-quality technical plastic products.
How Is the USX Controller Installed, Configured, and Adjusted?
The USX is intended for wall mounting. It features pre-stamped cable entries at the rear of its enclosure. All you need to do is gently knock them out and mount the device onto the panel or wall using suitable screws and/or dowels.
This variable fan speed controller does not require any configuration. Once connected, the fan speed controller is ready to use! The fan speed is adjusted manually via the built-in potentiometer which features an OFF position.
If necessary, the minimum motor voltage can be adjusted via the internal minimum speed trimmer. This is necessary because depending on the motor type, it might produce a little more noise at lower speeds. As a rule, the minimum motor voltage is adjusted in order to avoid motor stalling and excessive noise at low revs.
What Type of Motors Are Compatible and Can Multiple Motors Be Connected?
This series is intended for AC fans and control is realised via reducing the motor voltage. AC motors run on an alternating current and convert alternating current into mechanical power. This means that the series is suitable only for voltage controllable motors. You can connect several motors to the controller as long as the current limit is not exceeded. If you are not sure about your motor type, we strongly advise you to read carefully its accompanying documentation or contact the motor manufacturer.
What Are the Enclosure's Material and Protection Features?
The enclosure is made of high-quality R-ABS, UL94-V0 plastic. This material is flame retardant and provides good protection against impacts and dirt. It can be wall-mounted in indoors.
