Why should we measure VOC?
Measuring Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in a room is important for assessing indoor air quality, as high levels of VOCs can be harmful to human health. VOCs are emitted from various sources such as paints, cleaning products, furniture, and more. Place the VOC monitor in the room you want to measure. It is important to position it where it can provide a representative sample of the air in the room. Avoid placing it too close to potential sources of VOCs (e.g. newly painted walls) or near windows or doors where outdoor air can influence measurements. Let the monitor run for some time to stabilise and provide accurate readings.
The green, yellow, and red LEDs on this HVAC sensor controller provide a clear visual indication of the TVOC level. The green LED indicates that the TVOC level is within acceptable limits and that there is sufficient fresh air supply. The yellow LED illuminates when the TVOC level enters the alert range. The colour red indicates that the TVOC level is out of range or that there is insufficient fresh air supply. One of the other measured values (temperature or relative humidity) can also be indicated by the LED indicators. Modbus RTU provides access to the measured temperature, relative humidity, TVOC, dew point, and ambient light level.
Flush mounting or surface mounting
This sensor is suitable for mounting on a wall, a flat surface, or in a standard European wall mounting box. When the sensor is flush mounted, only the front plate is visible on the wall.
How to control fresh air supply?
The output of this sensor can directly control an EC fan, an AC fan speed controller or a damper actuator. The output value varies proportionally in function of the measured temperature, humidity and TVOC concentration. When more fresh air is required, the sensor will increase the fan speed or open the damper.
Easy to connect
This HVAC sensor requires a supply voltage of 230 V AC - there is no need for an external power supply. The cage clamp terminal blocks reduce wiring and installation time. They eliminate the need for routine maintenance and guarantee a reliable contact for solid or stranded wires.
Easy to use
This sensor requires very little configuration. It is almost directly usable once it has been installed. Temperature and relative humidity are often region- and seasonal-specific. The presence of VOCs depends on the specific sources and activities taking place in a particular environment. These parameters are still adjusted to the correct values during installation. The other default settings will be suitable for most applications. However, they can also be adjusted via the respective Modbus registers if necessary. A different output type, for example, can be selected to make it compatible with other devices: 0-10 V DC; 0-20 mA; 0-100% PWM; Modbus RTU. The light levels of the LEDs used for status indication are adjustable and you can choose to deactivate one or more measurement values.
