Product description

Outdoor CO2 sensor for HVAC applications. The supply voltage is 24 VDC PoM - this means that Modbus RTU communication and 24 VDC power supply can be connected via one RJ45 connector. It measures temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide and ambient light level. It can be used in harsh environments or outdoor. The measured values are transmitted via Modbus RTU communication. The CO2 sensor element is replaceable. In many applications, the ambient light sensor can be used to control the ventilation system in function of the occupancy of the room. All settings can be adjusted via Modbus RTU.

Additional specifications and description

HVAC transmitter for harsh environments
People and animals produce CO2 or carbon dioxide while breathing. That makes CO2 concentration a good indicator for the occupancy and activity level in a space. In many applications, CO2 sensors are used as an indicator for the ventilation requirements. This HVAC transmitter measures temperature, relative humidity, CO2 and ambient light level. Based on the temperature and humidity measurement, the dew point is calculated. All these values are available via Modbus RTU. The enclosure is designed for harsh environments or outdoor applications.

NDIR sensor technology
NDIR or Non-dispersive Infrared technology is used to measure the CO2 level. This technology offers a low life-cycle cost and a precise and stable long-term operation.

Reduced installation time
One RJ45 connector is all it takes to connect this sensor! Modbus RTU communication and 24 VDC power supply are connected via one cable - we call it Power over Modbus or PoM. All measured values are available via Modbus RTU communication. To facilitate wiring, we recommend to use a Sentera 24 VDC power supply with RJ45 connector. These power supplies offer protection against short circuit, overload and overvoltage. A 24 VDC supply voltage increases the safety and reliability of your installation.

Easy to use!
This sensor doesn't require any configuration. Once installed, it is ready to use. The default settings will do for most applications. If necessary, the settings can be adjusted via Modbus RTU. For example, the temperature or relative humidity range can be adjusted via Modbus RTU. Also the light intensity of the LEDs for status indication is adjustable. The Modbus register map provides a complete overview of all adjustable settings.

Self-calibrating to compensate sensor driftDiagram with blue line
The ABC logic self-calibrating algorithm is by default enabled. This algorithm is designed to be used in applications where CO2 concentrations will drop to outside ambient conditions (400 ppm) at least one time (15 minutes) in a 7day period, which is typically seen during unoccupied periods. The sensor will reach its operational accuracy after 25 hours of continuous operation at a condition that it was exposed to ambient reference levels of air at 400 ppm ± 10 ppm CO2.

High quality
The enclosure is made of high-quality r-ABS VO (UL94) plastic. This material is solid and offers good protection against impacts. It offers an IP65 protection against ingress of dust and water. Each sensor is calibrated and tested in our factory. We use sensor elements and components of high quality. This ensures the long-term stability and accuracy of this HVAC transmitter. To ensure optimal performance, it should be protected from direct sunlight.
