Basic HVAC parameters

All recent Sentera HVAC sensors have in common that they measure temperature and relative humidity, since these parameters have a direct impact on the sense of well-being and comfort of the residents. We distinguish between transmitters and intelligent sensors. The values measured by the transmitters are transferred via different outputs. Intelligent sensors have one output only. It is controlled proportionally to keep the measured values within their ranges. The intelligent algorithm of these sensors controls this output in function of the measured values. They can directly control an EC fan or AC fan speed controller. Demand based ventilation made easy! The group of differential pressure controllers offer PI control. Their algorithm controls the output in order to maintain the measured value equal to the requested setpoint value. Sentera HVAC sensors are available in different enclosures:

Room sensors

Room sensors are designed for indoor applications. Their enclosures offer a smooth, contemporary design that will fit seamlessly with most interiors. The green, yellow and red LED indicators offer a clear visual indication for one of the measured values. Some versions also have an audible alert function. The ambient light detection makes it possible to create day-night ventilation regimes. Room sensors are available with multiple outputs or with a single output (intelligent sensor). Their enclosure offers an IP30 protection against ingress of dust and moisture. All settings can be adjusted via Modbus RTU communication.

Flush mounted sensors

These HVAC sensors can be surface mounted or flush-mounted in indoor environments. The green, yellow and red LED indicators offer a clear visual indication of the measured values. Some versions also have an audible alert function. The ambient light detection makes it possible to create day-night ventilation regimes. Flush mountable sensors have one output. Their intelligent algorithm controls this output to keep all measured values in range. The output can directly control an EC fan, an AC fan speed controller or a damper actuator. Demand based ventilation made easy! The enclosure offers an IP30 protection against ingress of dust and moisture. All settings can be adjusted via Modbus RTU.

Duct sensors

These sensors can be installed in air ducts. The black plastic mounting flange simplifies installation and provides an airtight sealing of the duct. Duct sensors are available with multiple outputs or with a single output. For optimal operation, the sensor must be correctly positioned with respect to the Air velocity. Their enclosure offers an IP54 protection against ingress of dirt and moisture. All settings can be adjusted via Modbus RTU.

Outdoor sensors

These sensors can be used in harsh environments or in outdoor applications. The enclosure offers an IP65 protection against ingress of dirt and water. The measured values are available via Modbus RTU communication. The supply voltage is 24 VDC. Both supply voltage and Modbus RTU communication can be connected via the RJ45 socket. The ambient light detection makes it possible to create day-night ventilation regimes.

Modbus RTU communication

Sentera HVAC sensors communicate via Modbus RTU. Modbus RTU is a serial communication protocol that uses RS485 technology. In simple terms, it is a method used for transmitting information over serial lines (RS485) between electronic devices. This makes it possible to interconnect Sentera devices. E.g. Sentera HVAC sensors and fan speed controllers can be connected via Modbus RTU communication and exchange information. Modbus RTU communication is also used to adjust the settings of Sentera products. We advise to use the 3SModbus configuration software or the SENSISTANT configurator tool to configure your Sentera HVAC sensors. Remote monitoring and data logging is also possible thanks to Modbus RTU communication. In combination with a Sentera internet gateway, it is possible to monitor and control your Sentera HVAC sensors remotely via internet.

CO2 sensors

Air quality (TVOC) sensors

These HVAC sensors measure temperature, relative humidity and TVOC. TVOC means Total amount of Volatile Organic Compounds. It is a reliable standard for determining air quality. The ambient light detection can be used to distinguish between day- and night regime. The values measured by the transmitters are available via the analogue outputs and via Modbus RTU communication. The algorithm of the intelligent sensors controls a single analogue output based on the measured temperature, relative humidity and TVOC. They can directly control an EC fan, an AC fan speed controller or a damper actuator. Demand based fan speed control made easy! The sensors for indoor applications offer a clear, visual indication via the green, yellow and red LED indicators. An audible alert for high TVOC levels is also possible. Differential pressure sensors

Differential pressure sensors are designed to measure differential pressure, airflow volume or airflow velocity. The measured value is transferred into an analogue output or Modbus RTU register.

Differential pressure controllers

These differential pressure controllers generate a control signal to maintain the differential pressure, airflow volume or airflow velocity at the requested value. Via Modbus RTU, it is possible to define one or more set points.

Pressure relays

Differential pressure relays or switches can be used to detect differential pressure levels. The activation point can be adjusted via a trimmer on the pressure switch.

Temperature sensors

These sensors only measure temperature. The digital temperature sensors have Modbus RTU communication. They transfer the measured temperature in a Modbus RTU register and into an analogue output (0-10 V). Our product range also contains passive temperature sensors. These sensors do not require a supply voltage. The measured temperature is converted into a resistance value. Next to ambient temperature measurement, we also have solutions to measure wall temperature or water temperature (external temperature measurement of hot water pipes).
