Product description

Three-phase fan speed controller for 400 V motorized AC fans. The maximum combined motor current is 4 A.

The AC fan speed is adjustable in 5 stages from low to high. The fan speed may be adjusted using the rotary switch, which has also an OFF position.

The motor speed is controlled in 5 stages by altering the voltage of the motor. The output voltage's precise sinusoidal form ensures that the motor operates quietly.

The enclosure has an IP54 rating for protection against dirt, dust, and moisture infiltration.

Indoors, it may be wall-mounted. The power source voltage is 400 VAC.

Additional specifications and description

Step-based transformer fan speed control
Step based transformers are used to control the speeds of fan motors without the generation of humming or buzzing sounds. This transformer controller series can be used for regulating several motors if the rated load (4 A) of the transformer unit is not exceed. The STR-4 series are ideal for use in industrial or commercial settings
In general, transformer controllers are a robust, easy-to-use and energy-efficient speed control solution. Another major advantage of transformer-based control units is speed control without electromagnetic excitation in the motors. The products are therefore also recommended for noise-sensitive premises. What you get by a transformer fan speed controller is: silent motor operation, simple control in steps and a controller with a long service life at a reasonable price! STR-4 in a sports hall

Use
The series is developed to control AC fans via reducing the motor voltage. AC fans run on an alternating current and convert alternating current into mechanical power. Therefore, they are suitable only for voltage controllable motors. Several motors  can be connected to the controller as long as the current limit is not exceeded. In this case all motors will run at the same speed. If you are not sure about your motor type, we strongly advise you to read carefully its accompanying documentation or contact the motor manufacturer.

Unregulated output
The extra, unregulated output (230 VAC) is active when the motor is enabled. Because this output is either ON (230 Volt) or OFF (0 Volt), it is called ‘unregulated output'. The maximum current of this output is 2 A. It is typically used to control an external operation indicator, to open or close a damper, to switch an external relay, etc. When the fan stops, the damper is closed. When the fan is active, the damper is open.

Rotary switch with built-in mechanical time delay
It is important to operate the rotary switch not too quickly. The switch has a built-in mechanical time delay. This is important to prevent internal sparking during shifting. It has a positive effect on the service life of the device. When the rotary switch is rotated from position faster than the built-in mechanical time delay, the device will remain internally at position 0 (OFF position).

Surface mount enclosure
Enclosures play an important role in protecting the interior components or contents from various external factors such as debris, dust, water, and mechanical impact. The quality of enclosures is indeed essential to ensure the integrity and safety of the enclosed items.
All STR-4 controllers feature sheet steel enclosures designed to be resistant to external mechanical impacts. They can withstand accidental bumps, collisions, or other physical forces without compromising their structure or the items inside. This feature is particularly important in environments where there is a higher risk of such impacts, ensuring the protection of the enclosed components. The enclosures have a paint finish, which not only provides an aesthetic appeal but also serves as an extra layer of protection against corrosion and other environmental factors. The paint finish helps to enhance the durability and longevity of the enclosure. The EN 62208 certification ensures that the enclosures comply with the standards set for empty enclosures for low-voltage switchgear and control gear assemblies. The ingress protection rating of IP54 guarantees that the enclosures are designed to provide a high level of protection against dust and water ingress, they are effectively sealed against dust particles and can withstand water splashes from any direction, making them suitable for moderately harsh environments.
