HVAC sensor for exhaust gases
This HVAC sensor is intended for use in underground, multi-storey and enclosed parking garages, municipal and automotive facilities, where exhaust build-up from cars, buses, forklifts, trucks, etc. is present and can become hazardous to people.
Along with CO gas, which is the most abundant airborne contaminant and poses significant health and safety concerns, the SPRKM-R measures liquefied petroleum gas concentrations (LPG). What is more, this multifunctional sensor also measures the basic air parameters - temperature and relative humidity – along with ambient light level. Based on the temperature and humidity measurement, the dew point is calculated.
The incorporated ambient light level sensor element can be used for setting ‘active’ and ‘standby’ level via day and night detection.
All these values are available via Modbus RTU. Modbus is a popular serial communication protocol used in industrial automation and control systems to enable communication between various devices such as sensors, actuators, and controllers. It allows devices to exchange data and control information over a network. Thanks to this feature, the SPRKM-R allows seamless integration into a BMS system.
Carbon monoxide (CO) is an odourless, and colourless gas formed by the incomplete combustion of fuels. When people are exposed to CO gas, the CO molecules displace the oxygen in their bodies and lead to poisoning.
LPG is heavier than air and flows along floors and tends to settle in low spots. If the mixture of LPG and air is within the explosive limits and there is an ignition source, it may explode. Also, LPG displacing air, causing a decrease in oxygen concentration may cause suffocation.
A facility that is not ventilated properly, can pose a hazard as the exhaust gases from idling or slowly moving vehicles collect in the enclosed area. In order to maintain an adequate health and comfort level, the concentration of toxic fumes must be monitored so that fresh air can be supplied in time.
Reduced installation time
One RJ45 connector is all it takes to connect this sensor! Modbus RTU communication and 24 VDC power supply are connected via one cable - we call it Power over Modbus or PoM. All measured values are available via Modbus RTU communication.
Easy to use
This sensor does not require any configuration. Once installed, it is ready to use. The default settings will do for most applications. If necessary, the settings can be adjusted via Modbus RTU. For example, the temperature or relative humidity ranges can be adjusted via Modbus RTU. Also the light intensity of the LEDs for status indication is adjustable. The Modbus register map provides a complete overview of all adjustable settings.
High quality enclosure
The enclosure is made of high-quality r-ABS VO (UL94) plastic and is manufactured in the factory of Sentera. This material is heat resistant, fire-retardant, very tough and offers good protection against impacts. Each sensor is calibrated and tested in our factory. We use sensor elements and components of high quality. This ensures the long-term stability and accuracy of this HVAC transmitter. To ensure optimal performance, it should be protected from direct sunlight. The enclosure is designed for harsh environments or outdoor applications. It offers an IP54 protection against ingress of dirt and water.
