Product description

Three-phase fan speed controller for 400 V AC fans. The maximum motor current (combined) is 14 A.

The AC fan speed is adjusted in 5 levels from low to high. The fan speed may be adjusted using the rotary switch with the OFF position.

The motor voltage is varied in 5 stages to control the motor speed. The exact sinusoidal form of the output voltage ensures silent motor running.

The enclosure provides IP54 protection against dirt, dust, and moisture penetration. It may be wall-mounted in indoor settings.

The supply voltage is 400 VAC.

Additional specifications and description

Opting for transformer-based fan speed control
The use of transformer controllers as a speed control solution for motors offers several advantages. Firstly, they are robust and durable, ensuring long service life. Additionally, transformer controllers are generally easy to use and operate efficiently.
One significant benefit of transformer-based fan speed control is the absence of electromagnetic excitation in motors. This feature makes them suitable for noise-sensitive environments where minimizing operational noise is important. By utilizing a transformer controller, you can achieve silent motor operation, contributing to a quieter environment.
Another advantage is the convenience of step-based control. Transformer controllers typically allow you to adjust the fan speed in discrete steps or levels, providing precise control over the motor's rotational speed. This step-based control can be advantageous in applications that require specific speed settings.

STR-4 series
The series are specifically designed for controlling the output of three-phase, 400 V fans. These fans are commonly used in large-scale applications where a substantial amount of air circulation is required, such as factories, warehouses, gymnasiums, and HVAC systems for large buildings. Three-phase fans provide several advantages over single-phase motors in these applications. They offer a smoother and more consistent power supply, which is crucial for continuous and heavy-duty operations. This ensures reliable and efficient performance, even under demanding conditions.
They feature five speed settings, corresponding to five fixed positions of the rotating knob on the front panel. These speed settings allow for adjusting the fan speed in five steps, ranging from standstill to maximum speed. The controllers do not require any additional configuration or programming, making them user-friendly. Connecting the controller to the fan is designed to be intuitive and extremely simple, streamlining the installation process.
Even though the STR-4 includes five output voltages, this particular L50 versions features: 170, 220, 260, 300 and 400 VAC, providing flexibility in matching the controller to the specific requirements of the fan. However, the controller has one more output voltage available, but it is not factory connected. It is 130 V and can be connected via changing the internal wiring. Thus, one of factory connected outputs will be disabled.

Extra output
As standard, Sentera’s transformer controllers feature a 230 VAC unregulated output, single-phase. This unregulated output can be utilized for other purposes or connected to devices that require a single-phase power supply. This output is enabled when the motor is running. It can be used for various purposes, such as controlling external operation indicators, opening or closing damper actuators, switching external relays and more. As standard, the maximum current for this output is 2 A

Enclosure
The controller is housed in a surface mount enclosure made of sheet steel. This enclosure is designed to be resistant to external mechanical impacts, providing protection to the interior components. The enclosure of the controller is certified to comply with the standards set for empty enclosures for low-voltage switchgear and control gear assemblies (EN 62208). With an IP54 rating, the enclosure is designed to prevent the entry of dust particles that could potentially interfere with the internal components. It also offers a considerable level of protection against water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for moderately harsh environments where exposure to dust and water is a concern.
