Product description

5-stage fan speed controller with built-in relay for controlling an external gas valve. The maximum motor current is 13 A. The supply voltage is 230 VAC.

Fan speed is set using the built-in rotary switch. An optional pressure switch is required for air flow detection. If no air flow is detected within 60 seconds after the motor starts, the relay output is disabled and the gas supply is cut off.

In accordance with local safety regulations, it is often the case that gas supply is only possible after the exhaust fan of the kitchen hood above the stove has been switched on. This makes the SFPR1 series the ideal fan speed controller for industrial kitchen hoods!

The TK monitoring function stops the motor in the event of overheating. The motor can be started remotely using the integrated rotary switch or an external switch. After a power failure, the motor starts automatically.

The plastic enclosure can be surface mounted in indoor areas (IP54).

Additional specifications and description

The SFPR1 series are a versatile and dependable device, designed to seamlessly regulate fan speed across a spectrum of industrial applications. This series is distinguished by an array of features, namely: remote start/stop functionality, gas valve control, thermal motor protection contacts, automatic reset post power failure and the standard unregulated output.

Control method
This is a fan speed controller for single-phase motors. It features a built-in rotary switch that allows you to select one of the output speeds. Autotransformer technology is utilized to decrease the motor voltage and adjust the fan speed in these five steps. The technology is highly reliable and durable, producing a motor voltage with a smooth sine waveform. This results in exceptionally quietly running motor and an extended service life. The autotransformer incorporated in the SFPR1 is impregnated with a special material that reduces electrical noise.
It is important that you do not operate the rotary switch too quickly. The switch has a built-in mechanical time delay. This is important to prevent internal sparking during switching.

Field of use
This speed controller is only suitable for AC voltage controllable motors. If you are not sure whether your motor is voltage controllable, it is best to contact the motor manufacturer. Autotransformer technology is very reliable and robust. It generates a motor voltage with perfect sinusoidal shape. This results in exceptionally quiet motor operation and extended service life. A special impregnated coating reduces the electrical noise from the autotransformers.

Special features
Gas valve control: The SFPR1 controllers can connect to a gas valve, which only opens when the fan is functioning correctly. The gas valve remains de-energized for one minute after the regulator is switched on. If the fan doesn't operate during this time, gas supply doesn't start, making it suitable for industrial kitchens.
Remote control start and stop:
The controller has a normally closed contact that can be used for remote start/stop control and operation monitoring. It can be connected to various equipment like thermostats and relays.
Auto power on after power failure: In the event of a power failure, the speed controller and motor will automatically restart once power is restored.
Motor overheating protection: The controller has terminals for connecting thermal motor contacts (TK) to measure motor winding temperature. If the motor overheats, it will be stopped to prevent damage. After protection trips, the controller needs manual restart. If the motor lacks thermal contacts, TK terminals can be connected together to simulate normal operation.
Unregulated output: An additional unregulated output (230V) is present, mainly for controlling devices like air valve motors or run indicators. This output is active when the motor runs and can be used to control a light for remote control indication. When the controller motor is running this output is 230 VAC, when the motor is switched off the unregulated output is 0 VAC.
LED indication: The controller has LED indicators for visual status indication. A green indicator turns on when power is connected. A red indicator signals motor overheating, lack of air flow/pressure difference, or decreased airflow/pressure during operation. transfomer controller for fan and gas valve in a kitchen

Enclosure
The SFPR1 fan speed controller's enclosure is made observing strict quality control. Forged from sheet steel, fortified with a protective paint layer, and certified to adhere to the European standard EN 62208, the enclosure epitomizes mechanical robustness and steadfast defense against external influences. A reinforced IP54 protection rating underscores its resistance to the infiltration of dust and moisture, ensuring unwavering performance even in demanding environments. Installing the controller in cool settings, shielded from direct sunlight, mitigates the risks of overheating. The recommended operating parameters stipulate an ambient temperature range of -20 to +35 °C, accompanied by relative humidity spanning from 5 to 95%. Of paramount importance is the prevention of moisture condensation within the working space.
