Product description

FLTSN-N is a high-precision passive temperature probe that uses an NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) thermistor for temperature measurement.

It features an NTC 10 kΩ sensor element whose resistance decreases as the temperature increases.

The platinum sensor element is resin-encapsulated within a stainless steel tube (53 x 8 mm). This design ensures exceptional long-term stability.

It provides a fast response time of less than 1 second in liquids.

The integrated cable length is 1 meter and is extendable. The cable is unshielded, 2-pole twisted (2 x 0.5 mm²). It has alloy conductor wires for low thermal conductivity.

Operates between -40°C and 125°C. Withstands relative humidity conditions below 95% rH (non-condensing).

This probe is a suitable solution for various applications due to its robust construction and precise measurement capabilities.

Additional specifications and description

How Does This Temperature Probe Work, and What is NTC?
This temperature probe measures ambient temperature via a platinum element (NTC). This sensor element has an electrical resistance of 10 kΩ at 25 °C. It has a negative temperature coefficient. This means that the resistance decreases when the ambient temperature rises. Any device with an input for 'NTC passive temperature sensors' can read out the measured temperature.

What are NTC Thermistors, and Why are They So Important in HVAC Systems?
NTC thermistor probes measure temperature in various industries - from automotive, through green energy to domestic appliances, and even though their applications are endless, they are indispensable for HVAC.
The NTC thermistors increase or decrease their resistive value as the operating temperature around them fluctuates. They are extensively utilized as temperature sensors across a broad spectrum of equipment and systems, making them the preferred choice in virtually all applications where temperature monitoring is essential.
NTC thermistors are characterized by a negative resistance-temperature relationship. Their negative response enables them to exhibit significant variations in electrical resistance with even minor fluctuations in temperature. This property makes them well-suited for precise temperature monitoring and control application.

How is the Sensor Cable Extended, and How Does Length Affect Measurement?
This temperature sensor has an integrated cable. This unshielded 2-wire cable has a length of 1 m. The wires have a cross section of 0,5 mm². If necessary, this cable can be extended. The longer the cable length, the higher the influence of the resistance of the cable on the measurement readout. This sensor doesn't require a separate power supply.

What are the Temperature Probe's Integration and Protection Ratings?
Sentera’s thermistor probe is a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor chip, encapsulated in epoxy and potted in a steel tube housing with two wire leads. The stainless steel tube (53 x 8 mm) provides an IP65 protection degree against ingress of dirt and water.
