Product description

Fan speed controller with 5 steps and smoke evacuation. It controls single-phase motors. The maximum motor current (combined) is 7,5 A.

The rotary switch may be used to select the needed AC fan speed. This rotary switch features an off position as well as five speed settings. The exact sinusoidal form of the output voltage ensures silent motor running.

When the emergency switch is pressed, the motor rapidly accelerates to full speed.

The enclosure provides IP54 protection against dirt, dust, and moisture penetration. It may be wall-mounted in indoor settings.

Sentera’s transformer controllers

Transformer fan speed controllers regulate speed of AC voltage controllable motors in steps. Transformer-based fan speed controllers offer a range of benefits, making them a desirable choice for speed control solutions. Transformer-based controllers are known for their durability and ability to withstand harsh conditions.  As a rule, they are easy to install and operate. They provide simple control in steps, allowing users to adjust the speed of the AC voltage controllable motors according to their requirements. They are known for their energy efficiency. By reducing the motor voltage, they help optimize power consumption and minimize energy waste. In comparison to more complex speed control solutions, transformer-based controllers offer a cost-effective option for regulating motor speed. Since transformer-based controllers do not rely on electromagnetic excitation in motors, they help minimize noise generation during operation. This makes them particularly suitable for noise-sensitive environments where quiet operation is desired. These controllers are designed to be durable, resulting in a long service life. With proper maintenance, they can provide reliable speed control for an extended period. What you get by a transformer fan speed controller is: silent motor operation, simple control in steps and a controller with a long service life at a reasonable price!
Controller for AC fan with smoke extraction button

The motor
The SER-1 series is designed specifically for single-phase voltage controllable AC fans. By reducing the motor voltage, these controllers enable speed control of the connected AC fans. The controllers allow for the connection of multiple motors, as long as the current limit is not exceeded. It's crucial to ensure that the total current drawn by all connected motors does not exceed the maximum current rating of the controller. When multiple motors are connected to the controller, they will operate at the same speed. This is because the controller regulates the voltage supplied to the motors, resulting in synchronized speed control for all connected fans. However, it's important to identify the type of motor being used and ensure compatibility with the controller. If there is uncertainty about the motor type, referring to the accompanying documentation or contacting the motor manufacturer for guidance is strongly recommended.

Extras
As standard, all Sentera transformer fan speed controllers feature an extra unregulated output that is not controlled or regulated to maintain a specific voltage or current level. In other words, the output is directly connected to the source without any voltage or current regulation circuitry. When the controller is on, the unregulated output is active, i.e. the output voltage is 230 VAC (equal to the input voltage), when the controllers is off, the device connected to the unregulated output is inactive.  The inclusion of an unregulated output in the controller allows for additional flexibility in powering devices that do not require voltage regulation. This can be beneficial for certain applications where precise regulation is not necessary.
What makes the SER-1 different from other Sentera series of transformer controllers is the smoke extraction button. Pressing the mushroom button triggers a predefined emergency response – the fan will start running at maximum speed in order to evacuate the heat and smoke generated during a fire. The presence of a smoke extraction button is a notable feature, enabling the fan to operate at maximum speed during emergency situations such as fires. This rapid extraction of smoke and heat can aid in evacuation and improve safety.
What is more, besides the built-in mushroom button, the SER-1 series also features normally open contact for external remote button to switch the motor to maximum speed (smoke evacuation).
Also, this series features the option to easily change the 5 output voltages by changing the internal wiring. The factory connected output voltages 80, 110, 140, 170, and 230 VAC however, the product version features 190 VAC, which can be connected by disconnecting any of the other 5 steps. The wires are different colours and it is unlikely to make a mistake. The ability to easily change the output voltages by adjusting the internal wiring provides customization options and versatility to meet specific requirements.

Surface mounted enclosure
Enclosures play an important role in protecting the interior components or contents from various external factors such as debris, dust, water, and mechanical impact. The quality of enclosures is indeed essential to ensure the integrity and safety of the enclosed items. Therefore, the enclosure of the SER-1 series is manufactured in-house. We use high-quality r-ABS VO (UL94) plastic. The surface-mounted enclosure made from high-quality r-ABS VO plastic ensures durability, flame resistance, and protection against impacts, dust, and water ingress. Its protection class is IP54
