Product description

Two-speed controller for single-phase motors with thermal contact (TK). The (combined) maximum motor current is 2,5 A.

The controller has two independent 5-speed switches for selecting the two optimum fan speeds. When the motor is active, both speeds can be switched via a dry contact input.

The TK monitoring function stops the motor in the event of overheating. The motor restarts automatically after a power failure. Alarm and unregulated output can be used to control external devices to issue warnings or check normal operation.

The fan speed is controlled by reducing the motor voltage through an autotransformer. This technology results in a perfectly sinusoidal output voltage and guarantees quiet motor operation.

The enclosure can be surface mounted and is IP54 rated against dirt, dust and moisture.

Transformer-based fan speed controllers
Transformer fan speed controllers are known for their robust design, allowing them to withstand harsh environmental conditions. This durability ensures their reliable operation over a long period of time. These controllers are extremely easy to install and operate, making them user-friendly and accessible to a wide range of applications.
Transformer-based controllers offer a cost-effective solution for regulating motor speed compared to more complex speed control methods.
Since they do not rely on electromagnetic excitation in motors, transformer-based controllers help minimize noise generation during operation. This feature makes them suitable for noise-sensitive environments where quiet operation is essential.
Due to their durable design and reliable operation, these controllers can provide long service life when properly used.

Two speeds, five steps
Transformer-based controllers provide speed control in steps, allowing users to adjust the fan speed in incremental levels to meet specific requirements. Via reducing the motor voltage, these controllers help optimize power consumption and minimize energy waste, leading to energy savings. The SC2A1 series feature two knobs for manual control of two different speeds. So, you choose the two optimal speeds you need and these can be switched automatically using and external device (such as a clock, connected to CL terminals of the device).

Thermal motor protection monitoring and alarm output
If your motor features thermal protection the SC2A1 series offers monitoring the motor status via connecting the TK terminals. In case the motor is overheated, the TK function immediately stops both the motor and the controller. In this case the equipment needs to be restarted but the result is that none of the devices is damaged. What is more, the controller features an alarm output, to which you can connect external equipment (for instance a lamp) to notify you of problems with the controller.

External clock connection
The two optimal speeds  at which you want you motor to rotate can be switched automatically at a given time if you connect an external clock / timer. Adding a timer for switching the fan speed controller instead of switching it manually saves resources and worries.  This function is useful of you want different day and night ventilation or ventilation based on occupancy.

Normally open and normally closed contacts
Via two inputs, the motor can be remotely enabled or disabled. There is a normally open input and a normally closed input available. E.g. via a remote switch - connected to the normally open input - the motor can be enabled or disabled. A smoke alarm is connected to the normally closed input. If a smoke alarm occurs, the motor will be disabled, regardless of the status of the other input.

Unregulated output
The extra, unregulated output (230 VAC) is active when the motor is enabled. It can be used to control an external run-indicator, a damper, etc. When the fan is deactivated, the dampers is closed. When the fan is active, the damper is open.

Enclosure
Enclosures play an important role in protecting the interior components or contents from various external factors such as debris, dust, water, and mechanical impact. The quality of enclosures is indeed essential to ensure the integrity and safety of the enclosed items. Therefore, the enclosure of the series is manufactured in-house. We use high-quality r-ABS VO (UL94) plastic. The surface-mounted enclosure ensures durability, flame resistance, and protection against impacts, dust, and water ingress. Its protection class is IP54
