Product description

Two-speed controller for single-phase motors with thermal contact (TK). The (combined) maximum motor current is 10 A.

The controller has two independent 5-speed switches for selecting the two optimum fan speeds. When the motor is active, both speeds can be switched via a dry contact input.

The TK monitoring function stops the motor in the event of overheating. The motor restarts automatically after a power failure. Alarm and uncontrolled outputs can be used to control external devices to issue warnings or check normal operation.

The fan speed is controlled by reducing the motor voltage through an autotransformer. This technology results in a perfectly sinusoidal output voltage and guarantees quiet motor operation.

The enclosure can be surface mounted and is IP54 rated against dirt, dust and moisture.

How does it work?
The SC2A1 series uses two separate 5-step rotary switches to select two optimal fan speeds. These speeds can be chosen for different scenarios, such as high speed during the day and low speed during the night. A dry contact input is used to switch between the selected speeds when the motor is active. For instance, an external clock can trigger the switch to high speed during the day and low speed during the night.

Remote start-stop
The fan motor can be remotely enabled or disabled using two inputs: normally open and normally closed. When a remote switch is connected to the normally open input, it can enable or disable the motor. Similarly, a smoke alarm connected to the normally closed input will disable the motor in case of a smoke alarm event. This provides flexibility in controlling the fan motor from a distance.

Unregulated output
The controller has an additional unregulated output (230 VAC) that becomes active when the motor is enabled. This output can be utilized to control external devices, such as run-indicators or dampers. For example, when the fan motor is deactivated, the damper can be closed, and when the fan motor is active, the damper can be opened.

Thermal motor protection
The controller can monitor thermal motor contacts (TK) that measure the temperature in the motor windings. If the motor overheats, the TK monitoring function will disable the motor to prevent damage. If the motor lacks TK contacts, the controller's TK terminals must be bridged to simulate normal motor temperature.

Alarm output
An alarm output (230 VAC) is activated in case of motor problems, such as overheating. This output can generate alerts or control warning indications. If the motor overheats, the TK monitoring function will disable the motor to prevent further damage.

Auto reset after power failure
In the event of a power failure, the controller will automatically reset itself. When power is restored, the fan motor will restart automatically. This ensures that the system continues to operate seamlessly after power disruptions.
