Product description

5-stage fan speed controller with integrated calendar function. It controls single-phase motors. The (combined) maximum current is 10 A.

The speed of the AC fan is regulated by reducing the motor voltage using autotransformer technology. This technology produces a perfect sinusoidal motor voltage and ensures quiet motor operation.

Two optimum motor speeds selectable. Day-week programmed timer allows switching.

TK monitoring function stops the motor in case of overheating. Motor restarts automatically after power failure.

The enclosure can be surface mounted indoors (IP54).

Additional specifications and description

The ST2R1 is a speed controller designed for single-phase AC motors that offers versatility and ease of use. It provides various advanced features, including thermal protection, alarm outputs, and automatic restart, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. It is specifically designed for controlling the rotational speed of voltage-controllable motors (230 V, 50/60 Hz) such as fans and pumps.

Voltage control using autotransformers
The ST2R1 utilizes autotransformers to reduce motor voltage in predefined steps (80, 100, 120, 150, 170, 190, 230 VAC). This method ensures a smooth sinusoidal waveform, resulting in quiet motor operation and an extended motor lifespan. During commissioning, you can select two speeds (high and low) from the available output voltages. High and low speed operation time ranges can be programmed using the built-in clock, allowing for precise control, such as day/night variations.

Silent operation
Although when transformer-based fan speed control is used the motor runs extremely quietly, the controller itself may produce some noise. To ensure silent operation of the speed controller, the autotransformers are coated with a special impregnation material.

User-friendly interface
The speed controller is equipped with a keyboard and display, enabling easy configuration. It provides a multilingual menu in English, French, German and Dutch.

Computer connectivity

With a USB port, the controller allows for connection to a computer. Sentera's free 3SMUsb software can be used to read, modify, and save device parameters.

controller in metal housing with calendar functionCalendar function

The ST2R1 includes a built-in day-week timer, which allows you to set two optimal speeds. You can create day/night or day/week variations and program them for the entire year ahead. It supports setting on/off times, high and low speeds, and exceptions for holidays.

Remote control
The controller has 2 dry contacts that enable remote activation and deactivation using a switch or thermostat.

Motor thermal protection
The ST2R1 can monitor motor thermal contacts (TK) to prevent overheating and damage. If your motor does not have TK contacts, you must bridge the terminals to simulate normal motor temperature.

Alarm output
An alarm output, which activates when the thermal protection turns off the device, is available. This output can be connected to an audible or visual alarm.

Automatic restart

After a power outage, the ST2R1 auto restarts and there is no need for manual intervention.

Unregulated outputIn addition to the regulated output for the motor, the controller provides an non-regulated 230 VAC output for other devices with a maximum current of 2 A. This output can be used for applications such as opening/closing a gas valve or controlling supplemental lighting.

Robust metal enclosure
The housing of the ST2R1 is made of sheet steel with powder coating. The enclosures are designed for wall mounting and offer IP54-rated protection against dust and moisture.

Installation requirements
During installation, it is important to follow specific requirements to ensure proper functionality and safety. The controller should be mounted on a stable and secure surface in a vertical position to allow for adequate airflow and cooling of internal components. Sufficient ventilation should be provided around the controller to prevent overheating. The controller should be mounted in an environment with a reasonable ambient temperature, away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Wiring should be securely fastened and shielded. Environmental factors such as moisture, dust, or corrosive materials should be considered, and suitable enclosures or covers should be used for added protection.
