EC Fan Speed Controller | 10-12 VDC | From Low to High
Product description
EC fan speed controller with a rotary knob, designed for building and controlled ventilation. It is designed for fans with EC motor with forward/reverse function. This controller generates a 0-10 V signal and operates on a 10-12 V DC supply.
Turning the knob sets the fan speed. A press of the knob switches the direction of the motor on fans with a forward/reverse function.
The controller can be mounted flush in the wall or on the wall surface, depending on the installation.

What is an EC fan speed controller?

SPR-X10K-NA is a potentiometer to manually control fan speed of EC motors with forward/reverse functionality. Turning the knob adjusts the fan speed. Pressing the knob changes the direction of rotation of the EC motor.
How does this fan speed controller work?
The potentiometer or EC fan speed controller has a variable resistance of 0 to 10 kOhm. To generate a control signal, it needs a small supply voltage in the range of 10 to 12 Volt DC.
Turning the knob clockwise increases the fan speed. The potentiometer converts the resistance and the supply voltage into a 0-10 Volt control signal for the EC fan. The further the knob is turned, the higher the analogue signal and the faster the EC fan runs.
This controller is designed to control EC fans whose speed is adjustable via a 0–10 V signal and whose direction of rotation can be reversed via a digital input contact (F/R).
How does the direction switch work?
Pressing the knob activates the F/R signal and changes the direction of rotation of the EC motor. This controller is designed for EC ceiling fans that are able to run in both directions.
In which application can you use this controller?
This 10 kΩ potentiometer with a push-button switch can be used to switch on a ceiling fan with an EC motor, control its speed, and change its direction of rotation. By reversing the direction of rotation, the fan can provide cooling in the summer and evenly distribute warm air accumulating at the ceiling throughout the room in the winter.
Inset mounting or Surface mounting
The controller can be installed in two ways. It can be fitted inside the wall, with IP44 protection against ingress of dirt and moisture. The enclosure is designed in such way that it fits on a standard European wall mounting socket. It can also be installed on a wall or surface, by using the outer box. Surface mounting offers a higher IP54 protection against ingress of dirt and moisture. For surface mounting, the inner part is fixed into the outer box with the screws and washers that are delivered with it.
