Product description

This speed regulator is designed for fans equipped with voltage-controllable single-phase motors, with a maximum motor current capacity of 2.5 A. This controller provides the capability to regulate AC fan speed, allowing for adjustment from high to low or low to high. Also you can adjust both the minimum and maximum speed using an internal trimmer.

Phase angle control, employing Triac technology, is utilized to modulate the motor voltage and regulate motor speed (microprocessor controlled).

All configurations can be adjusted through Modbus RTU communication. Remote control is facilitated by entering the desired fan speed into the corresponding Modbus Holding register. Softstart or kickstart options are available to facilitate motor acceleration.
The enclosure supports both inset and surface mounting. This system functions with a 230 VAC power supply and employs phase angle control (Triac technology) to modulate motor voltage and regulate motor speed. This variable speed controller is commonly employed for controlling ceiling fans, bathroom exhaust fans, extraction fans, and similar applications.

Additional specifications and description

Variable fan speed control
Fan speed can be set manually from high to low. Via the Modbus Holding registers the operation mode can be inversed (from low to high speed). All settings, including minimum motor speed are adjustable via the Modbus Holding registers. The OFF position can be deactivated by connecting the 230 VAC supply voltage to the unregulated output, i.e. to terminals L1 and N. In this case, the motor will run when the power supply is present. If you want to keep the OFF position enabled, connect the supply voltage via terminals L and N, as standard.

Quiet motor operation

In residential environments it is important that the motor does not produce too much noise. This new SDX speed controller is very similar to the old MTX controllers but there are some important differences: The very precise control of the motor is the main difference. Thanks to the use of a microcontroller, the motor voltage can be controlled extremely accurately. This results in very quiet motor operation, even at low speed. This variable speed controller regulates the speed of AC fans by reducing the motor voltage. The voltage is reduced via phase angle control (TRIAC technology). This speed controller is therefore only suitable for voltage controllable motors. If you are not sure whether your motor is voltage controllable, it is best to contact the motor manufacturer.

Adjustable settings via Modbus RTU communication
All settings of this fan speed controller can be adjusted and monitored via Modbus RTU communication. The output voltage can be set locally via the built-in potentiometer or remotely via Modbus RTU communication. All you need to do is download our free 3SM Software from our website and you get the motor control type you wish – manual or digital, i.e. local or remote!

Flush mounting fan speed controllerModern enclosure with contemporary design

The enclosure has a contemporary, modern design that fits most interior styles. This fan speed controller can be wall-mounted or built-in. The mounting holes fit perfectly on the standard European wall boxes. The enclosure is made of high-quality ASA plastic. This material is UV resistant and it protects against impacts. The protection class is IP44 for inset mounting and IP54 for surface mounting. It protects the electronics against ingress of dust, dirt and water in indoor applications. The enclosure is easy to clean with a damp cloth.

Unregulated output to control external devices
If the supply voltage is connected to terminals L and N, the unregulated output is active when the motor is enabled. Because this output is either ON (230 Volt) or OFF (0 Volt), it is called ‘unregulated output'. The maximum current of this output is 2 A. It is typically used to control an external run-indicator, a damper, an external relay, etc. E.g. when the fan stops, the damper is closed. When the fan is active, the damper is open.
