Product description

This transformer fan speed controller controls fan speed manually or on demand. It controls a single-phase motor. The supply voltage is 230 VAC

the RTVS1 is Modbus controlled, allowing the use of a Sentera HVAC sensor, potentiometer (SPV series) or BMS system with Modbus RTU communication to adjust the desired fan speed. The fan speed can be adjusted manually or depending on temperature, relative humidity, CO2 content or air quality (TVOC).

Fan speed is controlled by varying the motor voltage in steps. The autotransformer technology produces a perfectly sinusoidal motor voltage. This ensures quiet operation of the motor. A special impregnation coating reduces electrical noise from the autotransformer.

The plastic housing can be surface mounted (protection class IP54).

Additional specifications and description

The RTVS1 series includes transformer fan speed controllers with Modbus RTU control capabilities and various operating modes. This controller is designed to control the speed of AC voltage controllable motors, particularly for fan applications in industrial environments. It is equipped with advanced control features, including both manual and automatic control. It offers compatibility with Modbus RTU communication for remote operation and monitoring, as well as protection features to ensure safe and reliable operation in industrial settings.

Autotransformer technology
The controller uses autotransformer technology to reduce motor voltage and fan speed in 5 steps. Transformer fan speed controllers protect and extend motor service life. They are provide a signal with almost perfect sine shape, thus making the controlled fan run smoothly without added buzzing and humming. This makes them the ideal solution for noise-sensitive premises.

Modbus RTU control
The series combines well-tested and traditional transformer-based technology with Modbus RTU communication for control and monitoring. All settings can be done using Modbus RTU protocol.

Manual and automatic control modes
In manual mode, the fan speed can be selected using a BMS system or a Modbus RTU master device via Modbus Holding Register 12.
In automatic mode, the controller can interface with a Sentera HVAC sensor or SPV series of potentiometers. The type of connected device is specified through Modbus holding register 18. Fan speed can be controlled based on various measured parameters like temperature, humidity, CO2 levels, TVOC, CO, NO2. In automatic mode, fan speed can increase or decrease as the control signal increases. These operating modes are called Auto forward and Auto reverse modes. One of these operating modes can be selected via Holding register 11. Auto forward mode means that the fan speed will increase when the measured value increases. In Auto reverse mode, fan speed will be reduced when the measured value increases. For example, this can be used for heating and cooling applications, i.e. fan speed based on measured temperature values. transformer controller with automatic control

Remote controlled

If using a digital potentiometer, the fan speed can be controlled remotely while the transformer remains in the technical room.

0-10 Volt analog input
The controller can also be controlled via a 0-10 Volt analog input signal when used in conjunction with Sentera's DADCM.

Extra unregulated output

The controller features an extra, unregulated output (230 VAC) that can indicate alarms, motor operation or be controlled via Modbus register 15.

Thermal motor contact monitoring (TK)

The controller can monitor thermal motor contacts (TK) to measure motor winding temperature. If the motor overheats, the TK monitoring function disables the motor to prevent damage. This function can be enabled or disabled via Modbus Holding register 14.

Auto restart after power failure
In the event of a power failure, the controller automatically resets itself, and when power is restored, the motor restarts automatically.

Enclosure

The fan speed controller should be installed in a cool place, preferably not in direct sunlight. The housing of the controller is made from high-quality r-ABS VO (UL94) plastic, offering flame-extinguishing properties and impact resistance. The IP54 protection rating ensures defense against dust and water ingress, suitable for industrial environments.
