Three-phase fan speed controller for 400 V AC fans. The maximum motor current (combined) is 1.5 A.

The AC fan speed may be adjusted in 5 levels from low to high. The fan speed may be adjusted using the rotary switch with the OFF position.

The motor voltage is varied in 5 stages to control the motor speed. The exact sinusoidal form of the output voltage ensures silent motor running.

The enclosure provides IP54 protection against dirt, dust, and moisture penetration. It may be wall-mounted in indoor settings.

The supply voltage is 400 VAC.

General
This is a fan speed controller for three-phase 400 Volt motors. It requires a supply voltage of 3x 400 Volt + N. Via the built-in rotary switch, you can select one of the 5 speeds. Autotransformer technology is used to reduce the motor voltage and the fan speed in 5 steps. This speed controller is therefore only suitable for voltage controllable motors. If you are not sure whether your motor is voltage controllable, it is best to contact the motor manufacturer. Autotransformer technology is very reliable and robust. It generates a motor voltage with perfect sinusoidal shape. This results in exceptionally quiet motor operation and extended service life. A special impregnated coating reduces the electrical noise from the autotransformers.
In three-phase 230 Volts HVAC system, there are there are three wires. In a three-phase 400 V system, the voltage difference between each phase wire and the neutral is always 230 V, while the voltage difference between two phase wires is 400 V. This makes it possible to supply both equipment with 230 V and machines that require 400 V. 
In a 3x 230 V system, the voltage difference between each phase wire is 230 V and there is no neutral conductor. Be careful not to confuse the neutral (N) wire with the protective earth connection which is yellow and green. The latter allows electrical current leaking from a faulty appliance or cable to be grounded to earth. It protects you from electrocution.

Rotary switch with built-in mechanical time delay
It is important to operate the rotary switch not too quickly. The switch has a built-in mechanical time delay. This is important to prevent internal sparking during shifting. It has a positive effect on the service life of the device. When the rotary switch is rotated from position faster than the built-in mechanical time delay, the device will remain internally at position 0 (OFF position).

Unregulated output
The extra, unregulated output (1ph 230 VAC) is active when the motor is enabled. Because this output is either ON (230 Volt) or OFF (0 Volt), it is called ‘unregulated output'. The maximum current of this output is 2 A. It is typically used to control an external run indicator, to open or close a damper, to switch an external relay, etc. When the fan stops, the damper is closed. When the fan is active, the damper is open.
  
Metal enclosure
Make sure that the fan speed controller can cool sufficiently. Preferably install it in a cool place, best not in direct sunlight. The enclosure is made of high-quality steel. This is important given the weight of the autotransformers. Thanks to the metal housing, the heat dissipation is also much more efficient. As a result, the maximum capacity of this speed controller is exceptionally high. The enclosure offers an IP54 protection rating against ingress dust and water. This fan speed controller can be installed on a wall or panel indoors.
