Product description

5-step transformer fan speed controller with thermal contacts or TK for single-phase motors. The maximum motor current (combined) is 1.5 A.

The fan speed can be adjusted using the rotary switch on the front cover. In the event of overheating, the TK monitoring function disables the motor.

The fan speed is controlled in five steps by lowering the motor voltage. The perfect sinusoidal shape of the output voltage ensures quiet motor operation.

The enclosure is surface mountable and provides IP54 protection against dirt, dust, and moisture ingress.

Simple 5-step fan speed control
5-step fan speed controllers are widely used in industrial kitchens, warehouses or industrial environments. They are often used as a simple control for regulating extractor hoods or exhaust fans. The fan speed can be increased from standstill to maximum speed in 5 steps. When connected, this controller can be used immediately. No configuration or programming is required. The series 
This is a fan speed controller for single-phase motors. Via the built-in rotary switch, you can select one of the 5 speeds. Autotransformer technology is used to reduce the motor voltage and the fan speed in 5 steps. Autotransformer technology is very reliable and robust. It generates a motor voltage with perfect sinusoidal shape. This results in exceptionally quiet motor operation and extended service life. A special impregnated coating reduces the electrical noise from the autotransformers.

Use
The series is developed to control AC fans via reducing the motor voltage. AC fans run on an alternating current and convert alternating current into mechanical power. Therefore, they are suitable only for voltage controllable motors. Several motors  can be connected to the controller as long as the current limit is not exceeded. In this case all motors will run at the same speed. If you are not sure about your motor type, we strongly advise you to read carefully its accompanying documentation or contact the motor manufacturer.Fan speed controller for single  phase motors

Unregulated output
The extra, unregulated output (230 VAC) is active when the motor is enabled. Because this output is either ON (230 Volt) or OFF (0 Volt), it is called ‘unregulated output'. The maximum current of this output is 2 A. It is typically used to control an external run indicator, to open or close a damper, to switch an external relay, etc. When the fan stops, the damper is closed. When the fan is active, the damper is open.
 
TK monitoring 
Thermal motor protection refers to the measures and devices used to safeguard electric motors from various electrical faults and abnormal operating conditions due to overheating. The primary goal of the thermal motor protection is to prevent damage to the motor and ensure its safe and reliable operation. If your motor features such protection, the TK contacts can be connected. 

Rotary switch with built-in mechanical time delay
It is important to operate the rotary switch not too quickly. The switch has a built-in mechanical time delay. This is important to prevent internal sparking during shifting. It has a positive effect on the service life of the device. When the rotary switch is rotated from position faster than the built-in mechanical time delay, the device will remain internally at position 0 (OFF position).
 
Solid enclosure
Make sure that the fan speed controller can cool sufficiently. Preferably install it in a cool place, best not in direct sunlight. The enclosure is designed and manufactured in-house. We use high-quality r-ABS VO (UL94) plastic. This material is flame extinguishing, very tough and offers good protection against impacts. It offers an IP54 protection against ingress dust and water. This fan speed controller can be installed on a wall or panel indoors.
