Product description

A CO2 sensor to measure temperature, relative humidity, CO2 (carbon dioxide) and ambient light level. The unique enclosure allows flush mounting or surface mounting.

The supply voltage is 230 V AC. The sensor algorithm controls one 0-10 V output based on the measured values. This single output directly controls an EC fan, an AC fan speed controller or a damper actuator. All measurements and the output value are available through Modbus RTU communication. The CO2 sensor component can be changed.

A ventilation system is frequently controlled based on the occupancy of the room using ambient light detection.

Additional specifications and description

How to control fresh air supply?
An EC fan, an AC fan speed controller, or a damper actuator can all be directly controlled by the sensor's output. In proportion to the measured temperature, humidity, and CO2 concentration, the output value changes. The sensor will speed up the fan or open the damper if more fresh air is needed.

Photoacoustic sensing technology
As they breathe, people exhale CO2 or carbon dioxide. As a result, the concentration of CO2 is a reliable indicator of a room's occupancy and activity level. CO2 sensors are frequently used as a gauge for ventilation needs in various applications. The three LEDs—green, yellow, and red—in this HVAC sensor controller provide a distinct, visual indication of the CO2 level. The green LED means there is enough fresh air supply and the CO2 level is within range. The yellow LED turns on when the CO2 level gets close to the alert level. CO2 levels that are too high or too low are indicated by the colour red.  Utilising Modbus RTU, it is possible to access the measured temperature, relative humidity, CO2, dew point, and ambient light level. Photoacoustic sensors are highly sensitive and specific, making them useful for the detection of various gases, such as pollutants, trace gases, and volatile organic compounds. The use of specific infrared wavelengths that correspond to CO2 absorption lines ensures that interference from other gases is minimised.

Self-calibrating to compensate sensor drift
The self-calibrating algorithm for ABC logic is by default turned on. This algorithm is intended for use in situations where CO2 concentrations will fall to outside ambient conditions (400 ppm) at least once (15 minutes) in a week, which is typically observed during unoccupied times. When exposed to ambient reference levels of air at 400 ppm ± 10 ppm CO2, the sensor will reach its operational accuracy after 25 hours of continuous operation.

Easy to connect, easy to use
There is no need for an external power source for this HVAC sensor, it only needs a 230 V AC supply voltage. The cage clamp terminal blocks speed up installation and cut down on wiring. They guarantee a trustworthy contact for solid or stranded wires and do away with the need for routine maintenance.

There is very little configuration needed for this sensor. Once installed, it can almost immediately be used. Region and season often play a role in temperature and relative humidity. During installation, these parameters are still set to the proper values. The majority of applications will be compatible with the other default settings. However, if necessary, they can also be changed using the corresponding Modbus registers. For instance, it is possible to choose a different output type to make it compatible with other units: Modbus RTU; 0-10 VDC; 0-20 mA; 0-100% PWM. You can choose to deactivate one or more measurement values and adjust the brightness of the LEDs that are used for status indication. An exhaustive list of all programmable settings is provided by the Modbus register map.

Flush mounting or surface mounting
The enclosure provides IP30 protection from incoming dust and moisture. It permits mounting on the surface or inset. It must be shielded from direct sunlight for optimum performance. Both a flat wall and a typical European wall mounting box can be used to mount this sensor. When the sensor is inset mounted, only the front plate will be visible on the wall.
