These brand new fan speed controllers replace the good old MTX and MTY series. They control single-phase motors up to 3 Amps. Not only the design of the enclosure has been modernised, also the electronics are brand new and offer many benefits. Especially the quieter motor operation at low speed is remarkable. The spring clamp connectors reduce installation time and guarantee a long-term reliable contact for solid or stranded wires.
New SDX and SDY series Many years ago, Sentera has set a trend in the HVAC industry with the MTX and MTY series of variable speed controllers. These controllers use phase angle control - TRIAC technology - to reduce the motor voltage and control the fan speed. Many manufacturers have followed our example and to this day both series are manufactured in large quantities. However, new technological developments offer many opportunities to improve these successful products. These new technologies were implemented in the new SDX series and SDY series.
Contemporary design in a high-quality enclosure The new enclosure features a modern and contemporary design that will fit in most interiors. It is manufactured in the Sentera Plastics factory to guarantee optimal quality. It is made of high-quality ASA plastic. This material is UV resistant, it protects against impacts and looks nice. It protects the electronics against ingress of dust, dirt and water. This fan speed controller can be mounted on a wall - surface mounting - or in a standard electrical back box - inset mounting. The protection class is IP44 for inset mounting and IP54 for surface mounting.
Silent motor operation The TRIACs of the new SDX and SDY series are microprocessor controlled to optimise the zero-cross detection. This makes it possible to control the motor more accurately which results in exceptionally quiet motor operation, even at low speed. The terminal block with spring clamp connectors reduces wiring and installation time. They eliminate the need for routing maintenance and guarantee a reliable contact for solid or stranded wires.
Modbus RTU communication The new SDX and SDY series are available in a standard version without Modbus RTU communication. This standard version offers a similar functionality to the old MTX and MTY series. SDX series regulate fan speed from high to low speed. SDY series regulate fan speed from low to high speed. The SDX–DM version has Modbus RTU communication on board. In this version, it is possible to select the operation mode (High to low / Low to high). Via the output overwrite function it is possible to remotely adjust fan speed via Modbus RTU communication (e.g. BMS system). An optional internet gateway makes it possible to connect the SDX-DM series to SenteraWeb – the online HVAC portal. Data logging, remote monitoring and remote control are possible via SenteraWeb.
