3SMCenter - Sentera configuration software

Comes with everything you need in a clean and simple design!

Configure, monitor or update

3SMCenter is a combination of 3 different software programs intended to configure and monitor Sentera products or to update the firmware.

  • 3SMusb and 3SMboot can be used to update the firmware of your Sentera device.
  • On this microsite, we will focus on the 3SModbus software.

3SModbus software allows you to configure and monitor your Sentera device.

Sentera devices exchange information via a network, called Modbus RTU. Modbus RTU is a serial communication protocol that uses RS485 technology. In simple terms, it is a method used for transmitting information over serial lines (RS485) between electronic devices. The device requesting the information is called the Master – in this case the computer with 3SModbus software. The devices that supply information are called slave devices. On a standard Modbus RTU network, there is one Master and up to 247 Slaves, each with a unique Slave Address from 1 to 247. The Master can also write information to the Slave devices.

The parameters of the slave devices can be adjusted via Modbus RTU. To facilitate the configuration Sentera devices, we have developed the 3SMCenter software suite. This software can be downloaded via our website.

Easy to use

Just download the 3SMCenter software suite via the website and start the 3SModbus software. Via the USB converter ( CNVT-USB-RS485-SET), the software will immediately recognise and visualise the connected Sentera product(s).

To connect a Sentera device to the computer, you need Sentera’s self-powered Modbus RTU to USB converter CNVT-USB-RS485-SET, which converts Modbus RTU communication to serial information on a USB virtual COM port.

How to connect a device to your computer using the CNVT-USB-RS485-SET converter?

  1. Before you start using the CNVT-USB-RS485-SET converter, you need to download the free 3SMCenter application from Sentera’s website and install it on your computer.
  2. Connect the CNVT-USB-RS485-SET converter to the USB port of your computer. Use the included USB-A to USB-A cable for this connection.
  3. Connect the Sentera device to the CNVT-USB-RS485-SET converter via a UTP cable with RJ45 connector. Read the datasheet for connection details.

Easy configuration

Start the 3SMCenter Software Suite and click on the 3SModbus application button. Once you start the application, the computer will scan and automatically recognize the connected device(s).

Click the product and configure the parameters. Define set points, adjust ranges, change working modes, load and save parameters and get alerts where measurements exceed the range you set up.

To stop searching for connected devices either click on the Stop button or press the space bar, otherwise the software will process until all connected devices have been recognised (a total of 247 possible).

Once the device is recognised and the processing is complete, you can right-click on the icon of the device to check its current status.

Advanced monitoring functions

Zoom in on your parameters by consulting the overview of live measurements. Here, you can also adjust the set points and ranges to optimise your comfort and air quality.

For detailed monitoring and configuration purposes, you should double-click on the icon of the relevant device and this enter its parameters and settings. Every device featuring Modbus RTU communication has two types of registers:

The input registers are read-only. They are used for monitoring purposes, i.e. indicate the current device status and the user cannot modify them. However, you can select the list of parameters you want to be displayed in the initial screen for fast right-click viewing via the Check icon button on the right of the input registers menu.

The holding registers are read / write registers. You can modify the device setting via the set button Modify icon. The registers that are read-only do not have the set button, they just display the unmodifiable device parameters and are intended for information purposes only.

User interface

3SModbus window has two different types of views:

The table view is the default display view. It contains the complete monitoring and configuration data of a device. However, you can change this view to the basic parameters only i.e. the ones most important to the user via clicking on the Graphical view icon button in the top right corner.

In graphical view you can both monitor the measured parameters and change the basic settings only. To return to the default table view and the complete set of settings and measurements, click on the Table view icon button.
