Potentiometers for local fan speed control

Most HVAC fans follow a quadratic torque curve. Meaning that a slight reduction in fan speed (or average airflow rate) has a major impact on the fan’s electrical energy consumption.

A potentiometer can be used to manually generate a ‘requested fan speed’ for both an EC fan and an AC fan speed controllers. Meaning that the potentiometer’s analog output signal can be used to directly control the rotational speed of an EC fan or to provide an input signal for an AC fan speed controller.

All our potentiometers are suited for both inset and surface mounting.

Switches for AC fan speed control

A switch can be used to manually control the rotational speed of pole changing motors (Dahlander motors), to select a predefined speed via a frequency inverter or for ON/OFF control of pumps and/or fans.
